4 kinds of thinking

“You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still, and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.” -Franz Kafka

Meditation

Meditation is simple. Do nothing. Wait, be quiet, still, and solitary as Kaffy put it. It’s a loaded word that can easily summon images of monks or hippies, but meditation really is all about stopping what you’re doing and letting the mind rest, focus, an re-energize.

Brainstorming

Brainstorming is the act of thinking about a single project or task and jotting down ideas.

Optimization

Optimization means thinking about ways to perform a technical task more efficiently.

Recklessness

Recklessness is thinking about ways to stay busy.

What is the perfect ratio

Depending on what you need to do to pay the bills you might be heavier on the brainstorming or maybe you’re a master of optimization.

The other two kinds of thinking are constants: meditate a few minutes everyday and never be reckless.
